Welcome to Skeptical Voter

Hello, and welcome to Skeptical Voter, a new website where we aim to discover and catalogue the political positions of Members of Parliament and candidates in next general election, specifically with regard with issues that 'Skeptical' people are interested in. These include the attitude of candidates to evidence-based policy, the role of the libel laws in science, and the teaching of creationism in schools.

Our plan is as follows: we have set up a Wiki to hold information about candidates and their positions. We hope to fill this with the sort of detail you need to make an informed decision at the next election - using information from news stories, websites, speeches and so on, to build up a profile of that candidate. We are also going to send out a survey to as many MPs and candidates as we can find details for asking them questions on these issues as written by you - the results of which will be posted on to the Wiki with as much other information as we can find.

It is still very early days and in order to make this a reality, we need your help!

There are four ways in which you can help us

  • Pledge your support - We want to collect names and details of people who agree with what we're doing, so when we send the survey out, politicians will feel more obliged to respond, the more people we're representing.
  • Update the Wiki - A Wiki is a collaborative project and we don't know everything - so we need you, with your local/specialist knowledge to help fill our wiki with useful information. Why not do some research and add to your local MP's page?
  • Suggest questions for the survey - As explained above, we want to ask MPs about issues skeptics care about - tell us what questions to ask when we send the survey out!
  • Spread the word! - We know skeptics are a resourceful bunch, and this is very much a grassroots movement - so talk about us on your podcasts, at your meetings, to your friends and on Twitter!

So get involved!
