Liz McInnes is the Labour MP for Heywood and Middleton. She was previously a senior biochemist working in the NHS. During a Parliamentary debate on mitochondrial donation in 2015, she touched on the case of a single patient treated in China that had been raised by opponents of the therapy, stating "I do not accept that that one case represents a proper clinical trial."
