Lindsay Roy was the Labour MP for Glenrothes from 2008 until he stood down at the 2015 general election.

Climate Change

In January 2010, Lindsay Roy signed Early Day Motion 524: Recognising Climate Change which states that "this House agrees that climate change is happening and is man-made" and calls this statement a "fact, which has the support of the overwhelming majority of the scientific community"[1].

Libel Law Reform

In March 2010, Lindsay Roy signed Early Day Motion 423 calling for a reform of the English libel law[2]. The motion noted that human rights activists, scientists, writers and journalists are currently prevented from publishing, and the public prevented from reading, matters of strong public interest due to the chilling effect of the law.

Alternative Medicine

Lindsay Roy was a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Integrated Healthcare.[3]

Homeopathy

In June 2010, Lindsay Roy signed Early Day Motion 284: BMA Annual Representative Meeting Motions on Homeopathy[4] which expressed concern at a number of motions to be put forward at the British Medical Association's annual representative meeting calling "for no further commissioning of, nor funding for, homeopathic remedies in the NHS", and "thinks that an integrated NHS, which employs the best from the orthodox and complementary ... could deliver better and more cost-effective outcomes at a time of financial prudence".

Science Funding

In October 2010, Lindsay Roy signed Early Day Motion 707: Government Funding for UK Science. The motion stated that the house "supports the view of the President of the Royal Society that short-term austerity risks undermining the UK's future science base", noted that other countries were investing in science to promote economic growth, and "believes that investment in basic scientific research throughout the UK is vital if the commercial benefits of developing new technology are to be broadly spread".[5]

Same-Sex Marriage

Lindsay Roy voted in favour of the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill at both its second reading in February 2013[6] and its third reading in May 2013[7].
