Rob Marris

Rob Marris was the Labour MP for Wolverhampton South West from 2001 until 2010, and from 2015 until he stood down at the 2017 general election.

Assisted Dying Bill

In 2015 Mr Marris proposed the Assisted Dying (No. 2) Bill as a Private Members Bill modelled on Lord Falconer's bill in the House of Lords.

Creationism

Mr Marris signed Early Day Motion 2708 calling for schools to treat with caution creationist literature sent by the religious group 'Truth in Science'.[1]

Abortion

In May 2008 in the abortion amendments to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill (now Act), Rob Marris voted to keep the current time limit of 24 weeks in line with the scientific and medical consensus[2].

Libel Law Reform

In response to an inquiry from a constituent about his stance on libel law reform, Mr Marris wrote that he was concerned about the current state of UK libel law and had written to Jack Straw on the matter[3]. However, he did not sign Early Day Motion 423.
