Knife Crime Statistics

In April 2011, in the run-up to the 2011 Scottish general election, Baker defended Scottish Labour's figure of £500 million per year for the cost of knife crime to the NHS in Scotland[1][2]. The statistics pressure group Straight Statistics had said that it was hard to see the true figure exceeding £10 million per year[3]. The Scottish Labour leadership later seemed to distance themselves from the £500 million figure[4].
