Jamie Reed was the Labour MP for Copeland from the 2005 general election until his resignation in January 2017.

In May 2008 in the abortion amendments to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill (now Act), Jamie Reed voted to keep the current time limit of 24 weeks in line with the scientific and medical consensus[1].

In a May 2014 media report about Jeremy Hunt's correspondence with David Tredinnick on homeopathy, Mr Reed was quoted as saying "The government's own NHS Choices website states that the evidence for homeopathy is 'scientifically implausible' but this doesn't appear to be enough for the error-prone health secretary. As his policies continue to damage the NHS, I hope he hasn't ordered an investigation into the use of leeches."[2]

Same-Sex Marriage

Jamie Reed voted in favour of the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill at both its second reading in February 2013[3] and its third reading in May 2013[4].
